COMING DECEMBER 8th

Sometimes, bad choices are the only ones left.

It’s been decades since the violent Uprisings that saw the death of over half the global population. The newly Reformed American Empire has adopted a severe surveillance apparatus, with citizens in the Lower Registry Tiers often snatched off the street to serve in the Penal Production Provinces.

One Unregistered boy has recently awoken with a visceral mistrust of people but with no memory of his past, not even his name, much less how he came to be alone in the network of subterranean tunnels beneath Markston, the preeminent city in the Pacific Northwest of the Empire.

Upon reaching the surface, the boy starts to reacquaint himself with the Reformed States of America, while awakening to abilities that seem to defy the laws of physics as he understands them. When an officer seizes the boy, he gets unexpectedly rescued by Twitch, an older boy who takes him under his wing and explains the particular nature of life on the streets. During the course of this tutelage, a brazen head intones a prophecy only Kid can hear declaring the imminent end of the world.

After a series of combative interactions with other boys around his age (and chasing a hint of the prophecy), Kid asks Twitch if he can join the older boy’s criminal organization. As he strives to prove himself worthy of acceptance by the elder criminals, Kid has to decide whether he is actually developing mythic powers, or simply losing his mind.

Unbeknownst to Kid, however, a long secret Enlightened Court—intimately familiar with the prophesied end of the world—is rather particularly interested in finding people with potential supernatural abilities. Will he be able to keep whatever’s happening to him secret, avoid the attention of the authorities, and achieve the security of membership in the gang, not to mention figure out what exactly might bring about the Ragnarok? His freedom, his life, and possibly even the fate of the world depend upon his ability to figure out how to navigate this world he’s just starting to understand
